Alma C. Schuetz

"Alma C. Schuetz, 96, Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother"

ROCKTON - Alma C. Schuetz, 96, of Rockton died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 25, 1914, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Gustave and Florence (Bender) Koehler. Alma was a captain in the regular Army Nurse Corps, serving eight tours in the Pacific Theater in World War II. She married Dr. John N. Schuetz on Sept. 16, 1952, in Chicago. She is a member of St. Thomas of the Apostle Church in Beloit, Wis. Charter member of Women's Memorial on the Square in Washington, DC. She had a zest for life, enjoying time with her family and sharing her joy with all those she met. Survivors include son, John (Megan) Schuetz of Madison, Wis.; daughter, Sherri (Jeff) Kulawinski of Rockton; grandchildren, Carolyn, Eric, Gregory and Peter; loving caregivers, Jurga and Magda. Predeceased by her parents; husband; and brother, Robert Koehler. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 7, in St. Thomas of the Apostle Church, 822 E. Grand Ave., Beloit, with Father John Hedrick officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Township Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, in McCorkle Funeral Home, 768 N. Blackhawk Blvd., with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Thomas of the Apostle Church.

 Irene "Gabe" Gabryolek

She was born on April 10, 1918, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She married Lawrence J. Wesner in 1946.  She enlisted April 30, 1941 at age 23, at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds and served until June 30, 1946, leaving the service at Fort Dix, New Jersey. She died on August 6, 2007. Her obituary was published August 7, 2007 in an Abbottstown, Adams County, Pennslyvania newspaper.
